David Frawley (born September 21, 1950), also known as Vamadeva Shastri, is an American Hindu writer, astrologer, ''acharya'' (religious teacher), ayurvedic practitioner, and Hindutva activist.He has written numerous books on topics spanning the Vedas, Hinduism, yoga, ayurveda and Hindu astrology. His works have been popular among the general public. In 2015 he was honored by the government of India with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India.
